Raw Horsepower!

We popped the hood on the Hummer and look what jumped out – horsepower!

Actually, these horses are wild and roam free in our neighborhood. These horses are not native to this area but rather are the result of what happen when miners let them go when they were no longer needed. More information can be found at the Virginia Range Wildlife Protection Association’s web site.

Until then enjoy the photos.

Any day of the week, especially during the warm summer months horses wander into our front yard looking for a little to eat. Here is one individual caught red handed – er, should I say green mouthed.
They wander around and eat grass and weeds. We make little effort to control our weeds so that they have something to eat.
The horses travel in groups mostly females and little ones. The mothers are very protective of the babies so you have to be careful around them.
