Remove Old Speakers

Yes, that's right. Just remove them. 4 screws should be no problem. These speakers had a retaining ring that was fastened to the wall and needed to be removed as well.


All original speaker locations will have a black wire and some other color wire (in the above example - red). The black wire will always be negative. This will be the case only if the previous owner didn't decide to do some creative wiring in which case anything goes.

The retaining ring has been removed and the hole enlarged to accommodate the new speaker size. The new speakers came with a template for the new hole size. A Dremel tool worked perfectly for this.
